The First International Legal Forum in France “Modern Problems of Law and Economy in Europe and Asia”

On September 16-20, 2018 the First International Legal Forum “Modern Problems of Law and Economy in Europe and Asia” was held in Cannes, France. The unique international event brought together lawyers and economists from over 10 countries: the Forum’s speakers included representatives from France, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, India and other countries.

Main objective of the Forum

At a time of global economic crisis, issues relating to the legal regulation of social relations in respect of economic development are gaining national and international significance. The Forum welcomed speakers and participants, highly-qualified lawyers and economists to discuss the most challenging problems our legal and economic science are currently facing. The Forum proved to be uniquely relevant and objectively explored the most pressing issues within this area of social relations.

The main sessions and panel discussions of the Forum led to elaboration of methodical and practical recommendations and suggestions on enhancing the global legislation which reflect the main challenges of regulating economic relations and generate an overview of the key trends needed to improve legislation in this domain at the present time.

Three panel discussions and a research and practical seminar were held as part of the Forum:

  • Panel discussion 1 “Modern problems of development of law, digital economy and education in the conditions of the world economic crisis”
  • Panel discussion 2 “Modern problems of development of the legal and economic relations in China: new challenges in the modern world”
  • Panel discussion 3: “Modern problems of development of international, humanitarian and commercial law”
  • Research and practical seminar “Problems of advocacy in France and Italy: experience of Europe and Asia”

The panel sessions evoked active dialogue between the participants.

The Project objectives as outlined by the Forum organizers:

  • Search for new research ideas to increase efficiency and expand the cultural diplomacy community in European and Asian countries;
  • Ensure continuity of the best traditions of centuries-old cultural dialogue between European states;
  • Mobilize the creative potential of forum participants to develop new meaning, strategies and methods of cultural diplomacy as a ‘soft power’ in the context of current threats and challenges;
  • Consolidate relevant public diplomacy efforts;
  • Establish a development strategy for a legal system based on the use of digital technologies;
  • Enhance culture partnership with organizations, national cultural associations, and diversify the forms of research collaboration for associations and unions in the sphere of law and economics in European and Asian states.

Articles for the monograph were contributed by the key participants and speakers of the First International Legal Forum “Modern Problems of Modern Law and Economics of Europe and Asia” (France, Cannes, September 16–20, 2018).
